The Surrey Eagles will return to action on Saturday evening when they visit the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex to take on the Coquitlam Express. The Birds lead the season series with a record of 5-0-0-0 against Coquitlam.
Head-to-Head Breakdown
Surrey is coming off a 5-2 Friday night victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings at the South Surrey Arena. The Eagles tallied two shorthanded goals in the victory, marking the only time this season that the Birds have scored more than one goal on the penalty kill in a single game. Adam Tambellini also found the back of the net in his return to the line-up. The Edmonton native missed four games due to injury. Head Coach and GM Matt Erhart reached a big milestone on Friday as well, picking up his 100th victory as a Head Coach in the BCHL.
The Express enter Saturday's action on a three game losing streak after falling to Vernon, Penticton and Langley respectively. Over those three games, Coquitlam was outscored 22-4 including an 11-0 loss to the Vees which marked the biggest loss in Express franchise history. Coquitlam sits in last place in the Mainland Division -- seven points behind the fourth place Langley Rivermen. Unfortunately for the Express, the Rivermen also have three games in hand, putting them firmly in the driver's seat in the race for the final playoff spot.
