Pre-Game Report: Game 2 - Eagles vs. Bulldogs

The Surrey Eagles will host the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in Game 2 of the Coastal Conference Final on Saturday evening at the South Surrey Arena. The Birds took a 1-0 series win with a 1-0 win on Friday night.

Michael Santaguida was a key factor in Surrey's Game 1 win. The 20-year-old made 29 saves for his third shutout of the playoffs. Interestingly enough, all three of Santaguida's shutouts have come in the opening game of Surrey's three series. While the Eagles did pick up the win thanks to Demico Hannoun's late goal in the third, the Surrey power play went 0-for-5 and will be looking to improve on that effort in Game 2. Hannoun's goal was his third of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs were also unable to score on the power play as they went 0-for-4. Friday's game was the first time that Alberni Valley has been shutout in the playoffs to this point. Jay Deo was very strong in net, stopping 32 of 33 shots that the Eagles threw at him. The Bulldogs are dealing with a number of injuries at the moment as Kurt Gosselin, Nicholas Kerr and Hunter Stewart were all scratched on Friday. Matthew Hansen didn't play either as he was serving the first game of a two game suspension.

If you're coming to the game, make sure to bring your radio and listen to the play-by-play in the building on 88.7FM.
