The Surrey Eagles will return to action for the first time in a week when they host the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sunday afternoon at the South Surrey Arena. The game marks the second and final meeting in the season series between the two teams. The Birds beat the Caps 4-3 in overtime last Sunday.
Heading into Sunday's action, the Eagles sit two points back of the Victoria Grizzlies and Penticton Vees for first place in the BCHL. Both the Grizzlies and Vees have played one more game than the Birds though, so Surrey will be looking to use their game in hand to join them in a tie for top spot. With only three games left in the regular season, the Eagles are looking to get healthy before the start of the playoffs. The Birds were without eight regulars last Sunday in Duncan.
The Capitals are completing a three game Mainland Division road trip and will play for the third time in less than 72 hours on Sunday. Cowichan is on a three game losing streak after last week's meeting with Surrey and consecutive losses in Coquitlam and Chilliwack on Friday and Saturday. The Capitals, who sit in last place in the league, have struggled on the road this season, winning only three games away from the Island Savings Centre.
