Pre-Game Report: Eagles vs. Rivermen

The Surrey Eagles and Langley Rivermen will conclude their season series on Monday afternoon at the South Surrey Arena in a Family Day matinee game. The game is a potential first round playoff preview. Surrey has already clinched the season series with a record of 6-1-0-0 against Langley. The Rivermen are 0-3-0-0 at the South Surrey Arena this season.

The Birds are coming off a disappointing 3-2 double overtime loss to the Coquitlam Express on Saturday. Surrey led 2-0 after two periods but allowed Coquitlam to come from behind and pick up the victory. Despite the loss, the Eagles remain six points ahead of the Chilliwack Chiefs atop the Mainland Division. Brady Shaw netted his 30th goal of the season in the loss to Coquitlam. It's the second straight season that Shaw has reached the 30 goal plateau after he tallied 33 goals last year while playing for the Express.

The Rivermen are also fresh off a loss after they were shutout 5-0 on home ice by the Merritt Centennials on Saturday. Prior to Saturday's loss, Langley had won two straight over Coquitlam and Victoria. The 'Men currently sit five points ahead of the Express in the race for the the last playoff spot in the Mainland. Langley also has three games in hand, but they won't use one of them on Monday as Coquitlam is in action against Chilliwack.
