Pre-Game Report: Eagles vs. Clippers

The Surrey Eagles will face the Nanaimo Clippers in the second and final meeting between the two teams this season on Friday evening. The game marks the only visit to the South Surrey Arena for the Clippers this season. Nanaimo took the first game in the season series, winning 5-2 at Frank Crane Arena on December 9th.

Last weekend, the Eagles picked up five of a possible six points with two wins and an overtime loss in three games against divisional opponents Prince George, Coquitlam and Langley. Including Friday's game, the Birds will play Island Division opponents in five of their next six games. Surrey has a record of 2-3-1-0 against teams from the island. The Eagles are just two points away from clinching home ice advantage for the first round of the BCHL playoffs and sit eight points up on the Chilliwack Chiefs for first place in the Mainland Division.

Entering tonight's action, the Clippers sit in second in the Island Division with a record of 26-17-0-3. Nanaimo has already clinched a playoff spot and is also looking to sew up home ice for the first round. The Clips are three points ahead of the third place Alberni Valley Bulldogs and hold a game in hand. Offensively, Nanaimo is led by 20-year-old forwards Greg Fraser, Kyle Kramer and Reid Sturos who have 136 points between the three of them. The Clippers already know that they will have a chance to head to the Royal Bank Cup this year as they are the host team of the first ever Western Canada Cup which will be held from April 26th to May 5th.
