The Surrey Eagles will pay their final visit to the Langley Events Centre this season on Sunday afternoon for a matinee match-up with the Langley Rivermen. The Birds lead the season series between the two teams after winning three of thee four meetings between the two sides to this point in the year.
Surrey is coming off an exciting 2-1 win over Penticton on Friday evening. The Eagles now sit alone atop the Mainland Division with a two point lead on Chilliwack after the Chiefs lost to Victoria on Saturday. The two teams have both played 37 games. New additions Ryan Fraser-Lee and Adam Tambellini both played well in their debuts with the Birds on Friday. Tambellini scored twice, including the game winner, while Fraser-Lee had a solid game on the back end. The blue liner from Grand Rapids, Michigan will face his former team today after being traded by Langley on Wednesday.
Langley was on a four game winning streak entering Saturday's action, but the Rivermen fell 5-1 to Penticton at home. Derek Sutliffe had Langley's lone goal in the loss. Sutliffe, who hails from Las Vegas, Nevada, is the reigning BCHL Player of the Week after putting up four points in two straight wins for Langley last weekend. The Rivermen's winning streak has put them back in a playoff position as they currently sit in fourth in the Mainland Division, one point up on Coquitlam. The 'Men also have three games in hand on the Express.
