Pre-Game Report: Eagles vs. Bulldogs

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will pay their lone visit to the South Surrey Arena this season on Sunday afternoon to face the Surrey Eagles. The Birds are coming off a close 3-2 victory over the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday evening while the 'Dogs are playing their third game in as many nights after a pair of losses to Coquitlam and Langley.

Edward Dyson had a bounce back performance in goal for the Eagles on Friday evening in his second start of the year. The 20-year-old Port Alberni native gave up six goals in his first game of the season on September 9th, but against the Grizzlies, Dyson made 38 saves to pick up his first career BCHL win. Offensively, 18-year-old Michigan native Drew Best has been hot of late for Surrey, scoring goals in his last three straight games. The Eagles currently sit in third in the Mainland Division with a record of 3-2-0-0.

It's been a tough weekend so far for Alberni Valley as the Bulldogs lost 6-2 in Coquitlam on Friday and were shutout 7-0 by the Langley Rivermen on Saturday. However, the 'Dogs boast the league's top two scorers as Lars Hepso, who was the BCHL Player of the Week last week, has 10 points through six games while teammate Ryan Lough has put up nine points. Hepso also leads the league in goal scoring with seven. Alberni Valley has a record of 2-3-0-1 and sits in fourth in the Island Division.

This afternoon's game will be heard on TEAM1040 in the lower mainland. It's the first of five Eagles games on Vancouver's #1 all-sports station this season.
